This painting was done in acrylics on a 16 X 20 inch canvas.

The painting process usually includes inspiration, observation, preparatory sketches, refinement, and then the final piece. This is based on the landscape theme but from imagination, much more than painting on location. I have mostly grew up in an urban environment until I moved to Riverside, California, where this city does have some places such as Mount Rubidoux and Challen Park, which is nearby my apartment. So of course, the inspiration behind this piece is the hillsides of Riverside. The observation for this is Challen Park, where I have visited for the first time and a sunset in the summertime. Here are about 20-some-odd photos.

After searching for many ways to design my painting, I came up with somethin fairly simple.

Now comes workin on this final piece. I wanted to give it a sunset appearance. This came with some challenges cause I havn't done this in a while, so started off to be difficult in the first attempt.

The forms were not defined well on the stones and trees. I got some valuable feedback from Jeff Soto, who is also my instructor for this course. Definitely helped me out on some form and lighting issues, but this also helped me out to add some new ideas I havn't seen earlier, and it resulted in the final piece.

In the final piece, I also added a lil somethin I got from Challen Park such as some of the tagging on the stones

This sorta graphic-Mickey Mouse lookin tagging, but I was careful not to overdo the image.

So here it go. Still painting, and learnin. Peace Out!
